Douglass Day with Gilcrease Museum and the Helmerich Center for American Research in partnership with the Tri City Collective, the Oklahoma Oral History Research Program, and Little Blue House
A transcribe-a-thon is an event where participants gather to transcribe archival documents. The Colored Conventions Project began organizing Douglass Day transcribe-a-thons several years ago. These events aim to create communal spaces for remembering and preserving Black history together. Participants will honor the founder of Douglass Day, educator, activist for Black life, and organizer Mary Church Terrell by transcribing her miscellanea on the Library of Congress’s By the People Transcription platform.
