Hi Bridget, welcome, the update on masking from the President's Office is that there will be no changes to indoor masking (still required) for the remainder of Winter term and we will be moving in the direction of aligning with the Governor’s directive and CDC guidelines, though we are working on specifics for Western.

45:13
Has there been some consideration of continuing the indoor mask requirement for the first two weeks of the quarter as we know many people will be traveling over spring break?

46:05
Got it thank you!

46:06
@Cindy, yes, that is one of the potential timelines that is currently under consideration by university leadership.

46:29
Thanks Jessica and Hello! Good to see you

46:43
Good to see you too, Cindy!

47:08
Is there any way for the WWU community to share input or considerations for the various timelines about masking being considered?

49:50
I do feel like decisions are made to satisfy the general body but those with higher needs such as immunocompromised are forgotten. I'd like to see us a community support the minority - which seems easy to do with simple masking and hybrid/online support.

And/or idea when the announcement will be made 🙂

58:08
@Amy, spring break is not considered to be a part of winter quarter, so a masking announcement will be made prior to the start of spring break and will outline what the guidance is for that period as well.

Although I have heard from friends that it is very hard to find a therapist taking new clients in the community.

01:06:00
@Ridley, when a mask mandate announcement is made, it is planned to include information about if offices, departments, staff, faculty, etc. will be allowed to make mask mandates for their areas.

01:06:00
I do find it shocking that in a past HR Learn, when it was shared that everyone is experiencing collective trauma through being a part of the pandemic, so many folks stating or asking what trauma informed care is or how to have access to it was a big indicator to me how much mental health & trauma informed training should be mandatory and practiced for and by staff, faculty and admin

01:07:06
^which will help us help students in the process

01:07:53
@Jenn, to your previous feedback, we will be sure to pass it along to campus leadership for their decision making.

Thanks for listening Jessica
